What is Transhumanism?

Since hearing a podcast interview with author and film maker Aaron Franz, and acquiring his book, Revolve, I have been most intrigued by the topic of Transhumanism.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, see it defined by Wikipedia. It basically refers to the movement for eternal life made possible by technology, culminating in collective humanity's transcendence to a completely interconnected state of "Singularity" hive-mind consciousness comparable to "God."
